DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Despite cold temperatures and gusty winds, the Embry-Riddle track team performed well in their first meet of the 2010 indoor season, the Embry-Riddle Indoor Outdoor Challenge.

Junior Evans Kirwa highlighted the day's events by posting a pair of "B" standard qualifying times in the distance events. Kirwa won the 3000 meter run by 15 seconds over the next-closest competitor, finishing in 8:42.77 for his first "B" standard of the day. Later, the native of Eldoret, Kenya won the 5000 meter run in a "B" standard time of 15:15.59.

In the men's 200 meter dash, sophomore Leon Robinson claimed a second-place finish with a time of 22.77, tying the ERAU record. In the women's 5000 meter run, senior Flo Vazquez added another victory for the Eagles, and also set a new school record with a 19:16.91 finish.
